Thanks for the clarification Ted, it was fun in any case once we figured things out.
Since this was Gaia's first official race and my first double handed, I was not aware of the single start, my ovesight.
I look forward to the Boomerang race when i return from Ireland. I believe there are some high school students crewing (what i heard from fellow coaches this spring).

There was some confusion with today’s starting setup and sequence. I was on Liberty Prevails. It appears the starting line was initially set up for an upwind start for a course which would have made Can 81A or Green 1 the first mark (southerly light wind).
The final course selection was A short which made HHSA B the first mark, and a downwind start. The RC chose not to delay the start and reset the line to put the committee boat on the starboard end of the line. Not sure where Spook was, but Liberty Prevails,
Gaia, and Red Sky were on the course side when the starting sequence commenced. LP and Spook managed to return to the starting side of the line prior to the start, but Gaia and Red Sky did not, which delayed their start. In hindsight, it would have been fairer
to all four boats to have delayed the start until all boats were in the starting area.

Spook was on the proper side of the line for the announced down wind start. Our confusion had to do with where we where in the sequence. Seeing Liberty taking off we went after her following our call asking if there was a start. She got about a 2 min head start. Red and Gaia were coming back and stayed clear of us. Would have appreciated use of flags as we have become dependent on them for where are we in the sequence and a verbal count down to the next flag change.
However, very much pleased with the course, the length for light conditions, and the beautiful day on the water. Thanks for setting it up. Rich,. SV Spook
