Women Underway in HHSA

January 14 Brunch Topics
Author Last Post

Greetings, Women Underway!

I’m writing to invite you to join me for a presentation on Sunday after our brunch. “At The Water’s Edge” is a lecture series highlighting how people enjoyed leisure time on the Chesapeake Bay from 1890 through the 1970s. These free programs span Calvert County from the north to the south and are made possible by joint efforts of the Bayside History Museum, Calvert Library, Calvert Marine Museum and the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum.

In the late 19th century, Calvert County saw a major transformation in the use of local waters and shoreline – from a place of work to a place of play. On Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 2 to 3 p.m. at North Beach Town Hall, “Gambling” will be presented by Grace Mary Brady.

If you’re interested and you live in the North Beach area, I’d be happy to carpool with you to the National Harbor and then on to the town hall. Otherwise, just keep in mind that there will be several more interesting topics presented through April 2018.

I'd like to discuss the National Women's Sailing Conference the first weekend in June at Marblehead, MA. Last June, I posted information (which I will bring with me to this brunch) and many women expressed interest in attending.  I just learned that the Women's Regatta has been scheduled for June 16, 2018, in part I believe because Emily and Eunice were aware of the Marblehead event and didn't want a conflict.  So, if you scroll back through this forum to June, you'll find the information I'm talking about. It will soon be time to book hotel reservations and those of you who are familiar with the Marblehead area can guide us to the best lodging options.

I've also got some interesting handouts from Practical Sailor to give you, so hope to see you there.

Thanks to those who have registered or let me know that they can't be there. If you can't be there but have info to offer on the Marblehead area, please feel free to post here.
