Looking forward to the 1st race tonight.
Many thanks to Ted for getting the racing program together for 2018!
And many thanks to Ted, David McCullough, and Emily for planting the Club marks a couple of weeks ago!
Good luck to everyone.

Ahoy racers!
Six boats came out for Saturday's practice starts and race. They enjoyed excellent sailing conditions with sunny skies and southerly winds building from around 10 knots to the upper teens. Results and photos have been posted.
Official racing begins this coming Wednesday with an excellent weather forecast.

Ahoy Racers,
So far only one person has volunteered to assist me with Race Committee for tomorrows practice starts and race. A few more volunteers would be appreciated.
Thanks - Ted

Ahoy Racers,
If your boat isn't ready, or you are not racing for any other reason, the Race Committee needs some volunteers for this Saturday's practice starts and race. Please e-mail or text me if you wish to assist. No RC experience is required.
Dock call is 11:30 am. Zalek is in slip L-13 at H. H. North.

Ahoy Racers,
The Wednesday practice starts and race avoided the scattered showers, but alas there was no wind and an eerie evening fog resulting in abandonment. Thanks to the four boats which came out; Aurora, Jubilee, Spirit, and Whoosh.
The forecast for Saturday's practice starts and race are much more promising and I hope to see many more boats out.

Hi Ted, and all, Aurora is looking forward to it.
This will be the first attempt ever for Aurora, my first race as skipper, and the crew's first Herrington Harbor race. So, needless to say, we will be very conservative. Our main goal is to stay safe. Besides that, the next goal is to have fun ;-)
Our plan is to observe the first practice start, and then attempt the second practice start, and then observe the 3rd practice start.
Then we'll try and participate in the non-spin start for the race.
I'll have a radio tuned to 68 and all the racing documentation onboard.
If you have any other concerns, suggestions, advice, please let me know!
Thanks, Dave

Ahoy Skippers!
Although it has been a tough Spring to get our boats ready, I am hoping for a great turnout next week for the Wednesday (25th) and Saturday (28th) Practice Starts/Races. Zalek, assuming her fuel pump is replaced successfully, will be the RC for both dates. I plan to do the same format on each date.
First I will conduct a series of three practice start sequences. These will be running sequences; i.e., the start signal for one sequence will also be the warning signal for the next sequence. They will NOT be class specific. All three are open to all boats. These are starting sequences for each boat to use however desired; to practice timing, to practice boat handling, to observe what others boats are doing, etc. Drop in or drop out to suit your needs.
Then after a short break the RC will announce a course and conduct a normal starting sequence; i.e., two starts; the first will be the spinnaker start; the second will be the combined non-spinnaker racing and cruising start. Each boat should have onboard copies of the Sailing Instructions and the Course Book which provide details of the starting sequence, class flags, and courses.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Ted
