I've been racing a the fairly new Chesapeake Racer Cruiser Association (CRCA)class recently, see https://chesrca.weebly.com/ . The organizers from St. Mary's said if we could get five boats together, we could get a start from Herring Bay.
Race info for the August 3rd start is http://www.smcm.edu/events/govcup/
If you are interested in doing a Governor's Cup start from Herring Bay please let me know here or via email at doug@ellmore.net. I will working with Jay Tyson [jwtj29@gmail.com, (813) 220-1584] from CRCA to help organize a start.
We are hoping we could get Oxford and Solomons clubs interested.
The CRCA classes allow both non-spin and spin yachts to race head to head and the scorer uses ORR-EZ boat ratings specific to your boat for non-spin or spin. The rating system allows for different course and conditions as well. There are also provisions using the CRCA rating for those who have not yet requested a formal rating certificate.
For more information on the ratings see https://www.regattaman.com/.
You can see the boats in the Chesapeake Region at: https://www.regattaman.com/cert_list.php?org=328.
Notice John Schafer of Velocity is participating in CRCA events, too.
You can see an example of ratings with my rating at:
