Dear Gaia,
You have missed getting the gun twice and I fess up that we (Second Wind) are the guilty party. We owe you guys two beers. Two weeks ago when we got the gun, I had a suspicion that a phantom cruiser was ahead of us, which was later confirmed by the race committee. This week was, well, I will not go into it, but we did in fact beat you across the line though it was our first time around A and your second. This leads me to alert you my protest, which will be filed shortly with the race authorities. I believe that Gaia is not a real cruiser but rather a fake one. If the inspectors look close enough, they will find that under your fake hull is really a Benneteau 36.7 or one of the newer J-Boats. What else could explain such terrific boat speed in light to moderate wind? In the meantime I will simply say congratulations, and if we ever get ourselves to Skippers when you guys are there, the beer will be on us.
—Second Wind
