That's awesome, congrats!

I've definitely been feeling wednesday night racing withdrawal. Reading this was a great break from the workday.

Looking forward to the Autumn Classic!

Red Sky had an exciting win last Saturday in the CRCA Non-Spin division.  It was a crazy day for us.  It began with a good plan for a down wind start.  Start at the pin and run the line.  We were setup perfect and then the wind dropped and the current pushed is over the line before the fun.  We tack over the line but could not get fully over before the gun and then the current pushed us down the bay.

Our class caught what little wind there was and the current and steadily passed us.  Finally after 30 minutes and most of the regatta fleet heading down the bay, we caught some wind and beat up to the line and finally after about 42' we got the #102 clear.

We sailed on the prevailing windward side of the bay and in the main channel.  We tried to sail the shortest path.  Much of the fleet had gone westward to our lee.  I had looked at the wind and tide models, and for much of the race to Solomons it looked like being in the channel would pay off.

It was predominately a down wind sail.  We managed our headsail and went wing-in wing when wind and waves worked out on our course.  A few times it seemed their was current slowing us down, so we jibed west a bit, then jibed back on shortest course.

Coming up to the finish we had two others in sight with the NRCA non-spin flag.

Coming in fashionably late as we do, we found out very quickly we had taken 1st by 14' for the day!

Sailing double handed with my first mate Steve made it all possible.

Doug

Congratulations!
