Women Underway in HHSA

August WU Meeting Topic
Author Last Post
Hello lovely ladies !  Just wanted to let you know that I was able to bring my sweetie home this morning and she is resting comfortably.  Although it was a very scary ordeal for both of us, she did not require the surgery and should make a positive recovery šŸ˜Š
I still will not be attending the meeting this evening as she requires extra snuggles !

Tracy, sorry about your pup, hope all works out. I have a greater appreciation for this sort of thing now.

Absolutely LOVED the movie but Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™ll be able to make the meeting.
My elderly dog is not doing well & may need surgery toward the end of this week :(

The August 8th Women Underway meeting is now posted on the HHSA calendar so please register if you plan to attend.  I'm looking forward to our discussion of MAIDEN, the movie and the book (which I have not read, ha ha!)

Bev Wright, Captain/Skipper/Past Commodore
s/v Whoosh (Racing/Cruisin

Greetings and salutations!

Last week I listened to a Fresh Air podcast interview with Tracy Edwards, the captain of a British team of intrepid women sailors, and now I'm looking forward to seeing the documentary film about their adventures. Here's a link to the Captain's wiki page:  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracy_Edwards. Maybe you've heard of her and her SV Maiden?

The documentary, Maiden, is playing at the BowTie Harbour 9 theater in Annapolis at least through Thursday, July 11th. Bev and Dale already saw it, and Bev exclaimed, ā€œgripping footage and amazing story, a ā€œmust-see!ā€ I thought I'd send an invitation to the WU to join me for the 8:00p showing on Thursday, July 11th. For those who are free to have dinner beforehand, we can meet at 6:30p near the theater at Basmati Indian Restaurant, 2444 Solomons Island Rd. Please send a message directly to my personal email address and we'll discuss any meet-up details outside the forum: rbyrd3@comcast.net.

If you canā€™t make it to the theater, donā€™t like podcasts, but have room on your reading list, then you can get Captain Edwardsā€™ book with the same name, Maiden. In any event, please come to our next WU meeting when weā€™ll discuss the amazing tale of the SV Maiden: Thursday, August 8, 6:30 ā€“ 8:30p (there will be no meeting in July in lieu of the WU-sponsored, ā€œParty like a Greek,ā€ dock hop at the HHN Gedunk patio from 7-9p on July 19).
