The rules can be very confusing.

I think they need to do a penalty turn and return to the course side to finish.  Going back to the course side may qualify as a 360 as long as it includes a tack and a jibe.

If they didn't do this, then they never finished (score DNF?).
It's our belief on Put-in-Bay that if the boat hits a mark, you take a penalty turn around the mark and then continue on. It'll be interesting to learn if that is the correct remedy. We certainly don't believe that the boat is disqualified. Bruce

I am new to racing, and apparently you cannot hit the pin on the finish, and I did, so I would like to retire from the race to avoid controversy.
