Time to register for this cruise!  Even though this cruise is dubbed the "New Member Cruise", all members are welcome on this popular cruise to introduce our new members to the HHSA cruising spirit!  We encourage new members to enjoy a weekend sail while meeting fellow members and participating in a fun Cinco de Mayo-inspired cruise!

Our destination will be Aberdeen Creek, in the South River, about 17 miles from Herring Bay. Aberdeen Creek is a deep and navigable creek, an attractive and interesting anchorage worth visiting. We were last there in 2009. Just upstream of the entrance to Harness Creek is the red daymark "10" that marks the shoal off Persimmon Point. Give this mark ample room as you round it and head into Aberdeen Creek. The creek itself is unmarked but favor the starboard shore a little to clear the duck blind to port marking the shoal off Melvin Point. If you keep to the starboard third of the entrance, you should have 15-17 feet of water all the way in. Once you pass the entrance, to starboard you'll see the grouping of buildings of a summer camp. Aim for the middle of three widely spaced, large houses on the western shore. The water there is 12-15 feet deep and you can go fairly close to shore.  When rounding up in a southerly breeze to drop your hook, you can stay about 150 feet offshore. The head of Aberdeen Creek, to the right, has a green marker "1" in 9 feet of water and is a protected anchorage for one or two boats.

Commodore Bev Wright and her dad, Allen, will be hosting Happy Hour around 5:30 pm on WHOOSH and providing margaritas and music. Please bring your favorite salsa or other Mexican-themed appetizer to share. Feel free to wear your favorite Cinco de Mayo outfit and/or sombrero!

New members - if you have any questions about what to do when you get to the anchorage as far as anchoring or rafting up, please email me at bev.wright@verizon.net.

Hope to see you there!  Please register on the website event calendar so we have enough margaritas for everyone!

Thanks!  Bev and Allen
