Our speaker, Joan Donovan Kilmon, is a lifelong resident of Chesapeake Beach and is currently Branch Manager of Calvert Library Twin Beaches Branch. Joanie runs a monthly local history program at the library entitled, “Calvert Conversations,” which has led the way to broader topics such as the history of Chesapeake Beach Park, the sinking of the Marvel, and the 75th birthday of the Naval Research Laboratory/Chesapeake Bay Detachment.
Joanie is past president of the Friends of the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum. She also participated in the Fishing Creek Project for the town and researched and wrote a short history of Fishing Creek. Researching and sharing information are two of the loves of her life!
