I meant to do this earlier, but I wanted give a shout out to long time HHSA member Dave Johnson and his very skilled crew on the J30 Avenger for winning the AYC Fall Series last weekend. They did it with three 1st place finishes in a 5 race series in a very solid 11 boat fleet. We raced Avenger in Spin B at HHSA for many happy years in Gitana and we miss his boat and enthusiasm on Wednesday Nights.

Winning that series in that fleet is not an easy thing and they've worked hard to get to that level. Well done Avenger team!

I heard Avenger was for sale. Love the J/30s.

Do not know where you heard that, but I can confirm that Avenger is definitely not for sale.

But Exuberance, also from HHSA, is however, for anyone interested in a J/30.

We still affiliate with HHSA as this club is where we learned to race and have some very happy memories!

Back in the day, the competition in Spin B was quit keen with Jeff Bowen’s Pearson 30 Pachanga, Tim Richards and Michel Jichlinski’s J/30 Leap Frog, David McCullough’s Cal 33 Gitana, and Avenger always pushing each other.

We also have some very fond recollections of the Wednesday HHSA Races with upwind starts, great courses, and of course Calypso Bay apres race gatherings to fraternize and compare notes on the day’s events!

Five of the six crew on Avenger participating in this years AYC Fall Series all raced in HHSA Events when we kept Avenger in Herring Bay Years ago. I am attaching a picture of the happy crew and the awarded Sullivan Perpetual Trophy below.
