HHSA Racers,
HHSA was well represented at this year’s Annapolis Yacht Club Spring Race to Oxford. With six boats in the starting lineup, HHSA had more boats participating in the ~40 boat race than any other club not based in Annapolis or Eastport. What started as a spectacular morning to sail north to the starting line at Thomas Point light with moderate northwesterly winds immediately changed to an extremely light and shifty breeze shortly before the first warning signal at 9:45 am. After several hours, a few of the boats dropped out early (ahem) and the race sponsors ultimately shortened the original ~26 nm. course that was supposed to finish at the Tred Avon Yacht Club to ~19 nm., finishing just south of Black Walnut Point, near Sharp’s Island light.
Here are the final results for the HHSA boats that participated:
ORC 1 Class:
Boat name Skipper Design Place
Endorphin Erik Wulff Farr 400 7th of 11
ORC 2 Class:
Boat name Skipper Design Place
Cimarron Lynn McClaskey J 110 5th of 11
Delirium David McCullough J 33 6th of 11
Allegiant Albert Bossar J 42 7th of 11
Bay Retriever Kevin Sherwood J/99 9th of 11
PHRF B/C Class:
Boat name Skipper Design Place
Blew Bayou II Jim Bradshaw Pearson 33-2 DNF
Did I mention that none of the PHRF B/C boats finished?
Congratulations to all of the HHSA boats that finished the race! For those of us that didn’t, it was still an amazing day on the bay, and a near perfect afternoon to spend biking around scenic Oxford.
