Thanks, yes, GEICO/BoatUS, which we currently have, definitely covers sailboat racing.

Take care

I finally checked my GEICO policy docs, unless my reading comprehension skills have deteriorated lately I think the attached means I'm covered.

FYI - another company that seems to cover sailboat racing, Gowrie Group. Point of contact, Anne Fisher, 860-399-3659.

Thank you everyone for the great info. And, Jim, good luck with Avalon - that will be a shame to lose her.

American Modern Insurance.

Doug

I have been very happy with Chubb. My boat is also over 25 years old. You’ll probably need a valuation survey.

What??!!??

Not Avalon! Such a beautiful boat!

I was using Liberty Mutual Group but they just informed they are no longer
in the boat insurance business so I have to try to find insurance for an older boat (25 yrs old )which may or may not pan out. My have to retire my boat for scrap if unsuccessful what a pain in the butt.

Eunice: Have you determined the full extent of the damage? What is it like?

In BoatUS/GEICO they call out that the policy covers sailboat racing (NOT powerboat racing).

I just talked to Warren about the collision last week. He said that Progressive has covered racing - definitely check even if you've heard otherwise.

Jim, I have Berkley One/Riverport Insurance Company (underwriter). The policy covers sailboat races.

I had Acadia marine insurance when I bought LP and they covered sailboat racing, too.

My agent is Warren Richter at Boudreau - he was helpful in getting coverage for the power boat.

I have Chubb and they paid when I T-boned. I forget his name. I have not heard anything changed. I will check with my broker.

Hi all,

We currently have BoatUS/GEICO insurance, which covers "club/non-professional regatta sailboat racing" (apparently the insurance industry characterization of what we do), and are exploring other carriers. I was surprised how many carriers don't cover racing - Progressive, Chubb, AllState, and have so far only found one other carrier that does cover racing - StateFarm.

Note, the above is just based on conversations with agents/brokers, not looking at policy docs, so there might be some false positives or negatives in there.

Curious to know which companies other racers are using. Thanks for your help.
