Poplar Island Race Results
Jim Bradshaw

Racers,

Today's race got off to a decent start, but saw several boats retire as the wind subsided around 1-2 pm. It picked up again after that, enough so some of the racing boats and the more determined cruising boats made it in time to qualify.

Congratulations to all who finished!

A big thank you goes to Doug and his (shorthanded) crew on Revolution. They truly went above and beyond the normal call of duty for RC. They motored out the ~5 miles to 83 (not 83A) to shorten the course enough so at least some of the boats could finish within the required time limits. They were still on station when the last boat arrived after 5:30pm.

Preliminary results attached,

Jim

Eunice - Liberty Pre

A huge shout-out to Bruce and Put-in-Bay for having the energy and gumption to race after volunteering for yesterday's youth Sailapalooza.

Kevin Sherwood

I think Mawaena's finish time is 15:41 not 14:41.

Thanks Doug and Revolution crew for braving the heat all day!

Kevin Meechan

You have Mawaena finishing before Bay Retriever. They finished ahead of us. I believe the hour is incorrect, as 15:43:41 is more likely our finish time.

Jim Bradshaw

You are correct. Finishing time was 15:43:41.

I will correct and repost later tonight.

Posting the corrected version - updating Mawaena's finishing time. This also results in a change in the finishing order for the Spinnaker Racing class.

Thanks Jim. And a big mahalo to the Revolution team for a great job as RC on a long day.

Doug Ellmore, Sr.

Thanks for catching the typo on results.

We spent the time as RC reflecting on some past races, performing some minor maintenance and repair items, and staying hydrated.

It was a really a nice day to chillax on a boat. Also think Steve had some micro napping going on.

Doug

Irwin Krieger

Thanks again to Doug and Steve for staying late to let us finish the race. I really appreciate it!

Irwin

Kevin Sherwood

Thanks again Doug. At least it wasn't July hot!

Here's a video of 0.8 knots of boat speed.

We ended up anchoring three times. I lost count of how many sets and take downs we had.
