Race to Oxford
Author Last Post
Just saw the Hammond published results.  Cantata was 3rd of 5.  Funny, it was a weird start.  Only one other boat starting with us , and it was flying a PHRF C pennant.  Somewhere another three boats started and obviously passed us or corrected over us.  The start had been moved up 10 minutes from the original posting in the SI.  We only made it at the last minute because the RC (ashore, not afloat) made a radio call that we were in sequence.  Whacky, but a great race nonetheless.

The Hammond had no normal start sequence, only published start times about 5 minutes apart.  The start line was between R2 and an inflatable.  No committee boat.  The RC was ashore and could spot the line to catch any boat that was OCS.  Also the check-in was not a boat but two people in blue shirts on the floating dock.  It seemed to work OK.  Kind of like the PCSC.

Hank

Hey, it was a beautiful day!

Hank

Cantata was 5 out of 6 in PHRF B.  We were also first in the Hammond... the only PHRF B boat in the race.

Cheers,
Hank

Thanks Michel!

Hank and his trusty crew on Cantata were 5th of 6 in a very competitive PHRF B class.  I wonder if that was Hank's last Oxford Race??

The race started in 2.5 knots of "wind" ... and it stayed like that for a couple of hours. Ugh!

Congratulations to Jubilee 3rd place out of 21 PHRF A2 and to Revolution 4th out of 7 in CRCA Racer Cruiser

Did I get this right? Did I miss anyone?

Greetings to all from Switzerland where the weather is gorgeous, the lakes full of sails and where I am landlubbering with my 90 years old mom
