Marks out of the water
Author Last Post

Thank you all for getting it done! Marks are safely stored until next year.

I can be there to help. Will bring my pickup truck and pressure washer. Jim Suhr

I have an SUV with a liner in the back and live very close to HHS

Where do you want the pressure washer?  It’s fairly portable.

Destination the very end of K-West, as during the other years.

Thanks

Does anyone have a truck for moving the marks, anchors, and chain across the boatyard?

Thanks Matt

Will be there.

Dale Whitley had offered her pressure washer. Maybe she could meet us when we bring them back on land so we can use that to clean them off?

Jayne

Anyone wanting to come help pull the marks, or just go for a ride on a hopefully sunny day, please feel free to join us! I can take 14 total.
We will leave the dock at 11am on Sunday Oct 24th.
The boat is named Three Seas and it's a 2002 Fountaine Pajot Belize 43 catamaran.
It's located at Herrington Harbor North at the end of H dock.
My mobile number is 703-606-6935 if you're running late or need directions.
Bring a pair of old gloves, and preferably clothes you don't mind getting dirty (just in case)
Thanks,
-Matt

What time Sunday do you want us to be at 3 C’s?

Deck Boss

That's great, thank you all!

I will be communicating storage location shortly.

Again, I am sorry I will be out of commission, but a few strong folks more would be fantastic to have for this worse of all of volunteer events in the racing season.

Michel

I’m in.

Jayne

I am free Sunday and we can use our catamaran. I have a bunch of furniture pads I can bring so we don’t scratch anything.

The boat is at the end of H dock at Herrington Harbor North.

Sound good? The more people the better.

Hi Michel

Winds this weekend would have made mark haulout a real challenge. I will check with some possible helpers an see what I can come up with. 🗣

What is the haulout budget?

Mark

Deck Boss

OK I struck out. No boat and only a couple of volunteers. The fact that it is boat show this weekend is likely a factor. So no pulling out the marks this weekend.

I have also tried the marina and discussed with Megan who stated that they would love to help, but not during haul out season.

As I stated previously, I will have hand surgery next week which will put me out of commission for any mark related work for at least the month the way I understand it.

So for now, the marks will remain in the water. I will continue to look for bright ideas and revert back to the membership when I approach a solution.

Racers

I heard no responses regarding the lifting of the marks. Tomorrow the 9th is clearly not going to happen, so Saturday the 16th must be the day. Right now weather looks OK.

Note that after that I will be having hand surgery so that will be it in terms of my physical participation, all I will be able to do is write emails.

We need volunteers and a boat for the 16th.

Thanks

Michel

I can't do either day but my power washer is available for use.

Eunice

I suggest we delay until the 16th. That gives us more time to secure a boat. Unless there are volunteers who could only help on the 9th.

Racers!

This Sunday is the Autumn classic, the last race when we use the HHSA marks. The calendar had October 9 as the day to do take the marks out of the water, however we are running into a couple of problems.

1) we don't have a boat as Jeff's engine is undergoing repairs. Does anyone know of a another powerboat we can use? It is a lot easier to lift the marks from a power boat than from a sailboat, unless someone has a large low lying swim platform.

2) We need volunteers to both lift the marks out of the water (a tough, dirty job that requires strength) and to clean them and store them. On a personal basis I am still out of the country the weekend of the 9th but can definitely do the following weekend.

Please respond to this thread if you can either volunteer or help procure a boat for the procedure.

Thanks

Michel
