I'm somewhat new to sailing and have some experience cruising, but none racing. Last year I did crew on on a 41' catamaran helping the new owner sail it from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico down the Pacific coast, through the Panama canal and up through the Caribbean and across the gulf to Florida. That was a three month, four thousand mile journey that was helpful for me to get a decent understanding of offshore passage making but many people have suggested that getting on a local race team would be good intensive sailing experience.
I own a Shannon 38 cutter rig sailboat and want to get as much sailing experience as possible prior to taking off on my boat in the next year or two.
I just moved to the area from Colorado.
