West River Race Results
Author Last Post

Hi Jim,

After I looked at the results last night I noticed that I provided a dyslexic accounting of our race finish to Jose for reporting. I figured this out because Viko finished just ahead of us. We finished at 14:25.38, not 14:28.35. I don't think it affects anything with the standings. Sholeh, S/V Blue Dolphin

Thanks Jim!  We definitely had great winds both days - thanks to the RC and the club for ordering up a perfect weekend!

We went with the Maryland flag to make sure the Around Long Island fleet knew who we are, and we're happy to say we had a few chances to fly her during the race.  Brief video from the race: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1JiU3eNWouKpvd696

Racers,

It was a great outing to West River. I hope everyone had a speedy trip home. We were feeling great about ours until Bay Retriever flew by us with their chute up. It was almost like we were sitting still. Love that Maryland flag spinnaker, Kevin!

I have posted a corrected version of the results for the West River Race, primarily to add the missing high points for the shorthanded racers, and other minor edits.

I have added a link to the new document, below, even though the original link below should still go to this corrected version.

2023 West River Race Results

Michel,

Thanks for checking. We were mistaken. We passed a boat that looked like Diva II from a distance at Green 1. Sorry for the confusion.

John

Hi Jim,

Could you check Diva II's finish time? They may have corrected over us but we definitely finished before them. John s/v Kaya

Hi Racers,

We enjoyed being a groupie for the West River race. I've uploaded the photos I took from Weather Or Knot with my iPhone. I didn't edit them down, in case there is one of your boat. They mostly are of the fleet prior to the start, the first start (NS-cruising) including the pile up, Happy Place windward, the windward horse race between Blew Bayou II and Kaya, and a couple of Resolute after coming down the West River with spin still up.

Take care

--Jim

HHSA racers and guests racers,

The race to West River is always a crowd pleaser. We had great weather for the race, with clear skies and temps in the mid-80s. RC Shortened the course to end at West River Green 1A, anticipating a drop in wind speed. Thirteen boats showed up to race, including a few boats from Herrington Harbor that don't usually race. We also had five shorthanded racers competing today.

Congrats to the first place finishers (corrected time) in their classes, Happy Place (Non-Spin Cruising), Uncloudy Day (Non-Spin Racing), Resolute (Spinnaker), and Blew Bayou II (Shorthanded competition).

Thanks to Michel and the crew of Amara for handling race committee.

Preliminary results attached.
