Women Underway in HHSA

Women Underway Gathering on Zoom!
Margaret Stewart
Please join us next Thursday evening, May 21, at 7:00 PM for a Women Underway gathering on Zoom! We are going to try to ge5 back on track with our regular meetings, either on zoom or in person, once we feel we can do so safely.

WOMEN UNDERWAY - Spring Commissioning
The summer is finally on the way, this strange spring is on the way out, and the recreational boating ban has been lifted - it's time to finalize your spring commissioning and get ready for this season! Join us to discuss the systems that need to be de-winterized and things that should be checked and how to do that. Importantly, learn about the things you can do without having to pay others to do them.

Our own Eunice Lin will talk about prepping Liberty Prevails for the racing season and Jayne Durden will talk about servicing her engine on her cruiser, Happy Place, and what she learned at the Annapolis School of Seamanship course on Marine Diesel maintenance.

Please bring your questions and best practices to share with the group during this open discussion to help women get underway more easily this year.

Please register on HHSA’s website so you can get the Zoom link. We look forward to “seeing” you next Thursday!

Susan, You will need to sign in I am working with Jason to get it to show up on the front page calendar, and get the button open for all, but. It’s there when you sign in.

I just tried again. I logged in, went to the Event Calendar, clicked on the event, and the only button I see is Add to My Calendar. The event says registration is required, but there is no button to register.

I can see where the site says registration is required and to add it the my calendar but no registration button.

Susan, I went ahead and registered you. I have no idea what is going on, but I figure this solves the immediate problem.

Margaret - for what it's worth, I see the Register button and was able to register.

Please also ask Jason to make the Registrants list visible to members logged in.  It's good to know who will be attending and to confirm that our registrations went through.

Thanks.

There is a possibility that people with admin rights to the event calendar can see the register button while others cannot. I know it does not show up if the date registration opens has not passed.

Bev, I fixed the registrants list. That was my error. My finger hit the wrong button. I think Jason May be out for a sail.

I can see the registrants but no button.
Bev Wright
Margaret, thanks for adding Registrants. We had this issue once before with registration for Women Underway events not showing up before.  In one case, it was that a "channel" was selected and only people who paid the $2 for the app could see it.  "Channel" should not be selected - it creates a "chat group."

Let’s see if that fixed it! Thanks for the tip!

Hooray, looks like that "channel" thing may have been it.  I paid for the app so that's why I could see Registration before.

I'm impressed that the registration confirmation email contains the Zoom link info.  I hope that everyone sees the info at the bottom of their confirmation email so they hang onto that email and not discard it thinking it's just the standard confirmation.

Interesting. We don't use channels on the Canoe Cruisers site, so I never ran into that issue.

Susan, HHSA doesn't use channels either but it's a dropdown menu item on one of the tabs in the Event setup.  It should probably be removed as a field of choice but not sure that's possible.

I don't think it's possible to change the event form, but I will look into it. Maybe there are options.

So, most of the boats are in the water. I can talk about bottoms, but I also can talk about everything I've learned the past two weeks - teak work, varnishing, rebedding hardware, antiskid, repairing gel coat, using epoxy and repairing a wet deck(from start to finish). Thankfully, only the teak is work done on LP.

And, of course, whipping lines and using a hot knife.
Dale Whitley
I’d like to hear about repairing gel coat.

I would be interested in how to re-bed hardware.
