Wed Night Race May 11
Matt Smith

Greetings racers! I will be assuming the Race Committee duties this evening. I'll have my crew from Snacktime with me, along with some others. Chris has volunteered his catamaran "Three Seas" as it's a perfect platform for race committee.

We have space for 3-4 more people if anyone else wants to join, learn more about the RC process, or just hang out on the water.

The weather forecast I'm seeing is a NorthEast wind of 10 knots gusting to 16 knots. I'm currently seeing that same amount in the slip at the end of G dock. Looks like a great day for sailing!

Please monitor channel 68 for updates. We will aim to leave the slip at 4:30pm and get setup nice and early...so come out and get in some practice runs to the line!

Please review the race documents, especially the SI and course book.

Unless you are running very late, do not check in via radio. Come by the RC boat stern and announce your boat name and class, then promptly leave the area to avoid a traffic jam.

Stay out of the start box until you are in sequence. If you are concerned about not being able to get to the start area on time, use your engine as permitted by the rules. It's like magic. (but make sure you have your engine turned off by the time your class' prep flag is raised!)

Keep your radio on 68 and make sure nobody is sitting on the talk button. There is nothing worse than calling a start when a radio is being butt-dialed!

And most importantly, come to Skipper's Pier after the race to brag about your victory, share stories or just socialize with your fellow races. It's one of my favorite parts about Wednesday nights!

See you on the water!!

Thanks for taking on the RC duties.

Has anyone talked to Skippers? Last week they were not prepared to host us past 9 pm, normal closing time.

Skipper's Pier kitchen will be open until 9:30.

Apparently, the best way to contact them is through Facebook Messenger. Voicemail didn't cut it.

They are happy to have us. Please stop by after racing or call ahead to order if you are running late. (410) 867-7110

Cheers,

Mark
